mid and i went on a frying pan hunt this weekend. normally i would hit a thrift store or two but this is garage sale season, and frankly i love garage sales. i have no idea why, it’s not like i don’t have enough stuff of my own to be worrying about right now. i just have a thing for going to yard sales and buying odd and probably worthless items.
i didn’t do too bad this time around. i ended up finding a trivoli frying pan (but a really small one) for $7. i ended up having to go to walmart for a decent sized cast iron pan (boo hiss- at the store, not at the pan). we decided that it was probably worth spending for new if it’s a pan that i essentially can’t kill.
i also found a bag of what i think was supposed to be some sort of sewing project that got forgotten for a dollar. the fabric was mostly small vintage (or at least vintage style) florals and some christmas prints all in the same tonal family. i think it was whatever was left over from someone’s seasonal project at some point.
i also ended up with what i think is recent if not repo fire king milk glass. it has the made in usa stamp which i know makes it modern, but i love fire king and i love milk glass and it’s so cute in such an ugly way that i don’t care that it’s not true vintage. the only thing that’s holding me back on saying that it’s true vintage is that it’s marked with a 5, which i’m not finding on any of the listings for the same piece that have been verified as first run. again though it’s not pivotal, i only picked it up because i like it.
my dill has finally sprouted! now i just have to make sure that i don’t kill it.
on the sewing front i’m working in getting stock ready for sirius this weekend so i have a piece to post tonight or tomorrow but most everything else will be going with me, and most likely will not be posted. i’m also considering working on a new style core for my winged pads after a conversation i had with someone this weekend. i’m thinking of extending the core through the wings, but i’m not sure how many layers i would be able to extend without losing wing flexibility.
