itrack

i don’t know if i think this is awesome or if it vaguely terrifies me.

for the sake of honesty i do have familiarity with normal websites that provide the same function. i’m just not sure that i would want it on my phone.

according to fox business news, it is now possible to purchase an app that allows you to track your cycle on your iphone. since april the app has sold over 75,000 copies and is currently purchased by over 1000 peope a day on average.

the possible downside? the loss of personal information. it is essentially medical data, and it is possible to be hacked if the phone is used by another person. the creators’ answer?

don’t let the phone be used by someone else.

check it out- the pidgeon edition

pidgeons and peppermint

in honor of the fact that i should be cleaning my apartment to move in the next week, i am instead posting a blog that i found with an interesting tip.

i’d post it as a WTF except for the fact that i do have an almost unnatural love of pidgeons. i really like pidgeons, and they bother me a hell of lot less than crows and seagulls but i think it may be the fact that i’m an urban transplant and the crows and seagulls were the flying rats that i grew up with.

but i know that a lot of people don’t like pidgeons and i’m aware of what pidgeons leave behind in mass quantities, so a tip via today’s check it out entry.

diluted peppermint oil will deter pigeons. it can work for other small pests as well and works as a natural disinfectant. and it smells good.

my current obsession

SDC10839

i have an obsession.

starbucks came out with a plastic double walled reusable cup specifically for iced drinks during late spring. it looks exactly like their disposable cups. i like being green, i like doing what i can for the environment, but i’m not one to really push the earth mother pagan vibe either. it has mostly to do with my disdain for the fact that the green movement is turning into a trend. i would have preferred a cup that didn’t have the starbucks label for that reason, but apparently these cups have not caught on as whole around here yet and the only other one that i could find was one that had UB’s logo on it for about $4 american more, which i thought was even worse.

i. love. this. cup. i have used this thing close to every day since i got it. i honestly think there’s only been four days since i got it in may that i haven’t used it. it even fits in my car’s cup holder, which is a rare occurance.

it was rather pricey. i paid $15 american after tax with a drink refill. however i have noticed that occasionally the baristas at the local starbucks will ring it in as a $.50 refill as opposed to just knocking the normal $.10 off the price, which makes repaying for the cup much faster than at $.10 a refill. while that doesn’t exactly make it thrift in the traditional sense, at $.10 a refill and the rate that i drink iced coffee if i have the cash flow, that means that i will be saving the price of a refill at least once every two weeks.

the only thing that i have noticed is that it is staining (hence the strategic modeling in the most recent coffee cuff pictures). it’s clean in the current pictures, but it’s taking on a distinct brown tint on the bottom rim and the top rim. it is dishwasher safe however, and i imagine that someone that doesn’t beat the crap out of it the way that i do could keep it cleaner.

if my luck holds out, these cups will be cheaper in the near future. i have a feeling that it’s going to be like when i bought my sigg bottle- if i had waited a month the price would have dropped significantly. i have noticed that the starbucks around here have problems keeping them in stock so if you see one and want one, i advise getting it as soon as possible.
