Surplus pads out of stock until further notice

I will most likely be not carrying suprlus cores until further notice due to a lack of fabric pieces. I have enough flannel on reserve for one more core but most of my stash had to be sacrificed in the move due to space constraints. Surplus cores will most likely be back in stock after the last pad I will list by the middle of September and will most likely remain mostly flannel or terry. All other cores will remain in stock, and custom orders will not be affected outside of surplus cores.

things i’m loving on etsy right now

Plantable tags

Plantable hang tags by Pulpart. I’m loving these- I think that a set may be one of the first purchases i make when i start buying off of etsy again.

The paper is recycled and sized, so ink won’t bleed and there’s a smooth size for writing. When you’re done with the hangtag you plant it and the seeds that are embedded in the paper start to sprout. The tags come in a variety of colors. I’m thinking of picking up a set to try ; if I like them I think that I’ll start using them as the hang tags for my stock.

Matroyoshka Skirt

I have to admit, I’m not normally big on the matroyoshka trend that’s popping up all over textiles right now. But I like the scale on this skirt- it’s big enough to be a statement (and I have that Polish figure that is sometimes flatteringly referred to as ’solid’ and can pull off prints with this scale) but not so big it overwhelms the piece. I’m still hesitant though- it’s a gorgeous piece but I tend to collect clothes and I don’t want to buy a piece that I’m not going to wear often enough to do it justice. The skirt is by Madewithlovebyhannah.

Whimsiedots

I’ve purchased from and blogged about Whimsiedots before. I love her stock and I love the idea- most if not all of her fabrics are reclaimed from old linens and vintage clothing. I’ve purchased her scrap packs before with good results. I still get comments occasionally about having prints that aren’t found in other pads- and it’s partially because I use reclaimed vintage fabrics. Whimsidots stock is sturdy enough that the pieces hold up well and don’t look worn.

Street Fair Skirts

The only issue with this pattern by Mariemadelinestudio is the color- I’m still hypercritical about the colors used for model pieces and the reds don’t do this skirt pattern justice. I’m aware that it’s essentially nothing but a pieced A line, but I’m still deciphering other people’s patterns and I’m on a patchwork kick, and most skirt patterns are for circle skirts with patchwork, not A line or straight.

Reusable Sandwich Bags

I love this idea, and it was actually something that I was toying with before I realized that people already do it. It’s definitely something that I will purchase instead of attempting to make for stock until I get a way of handling PUL. I hate plastic bags as a general rule and Cottontopquilts carries fabrics that I like (I’ve blogged before about being really picky about what designer fabrics I like- I may be one of the few crafters that openly admits to not liking most of Amy Butler’s prints.
